Lost post office

-

IT’S true that the post office can be the centre of village life. A decade ago I lived in devon, where locals would collect their pensions from the village post office and store. It was something of a social occasion.

then many of us received letters asking us to consider having our pensions paid into our bank accounts. the postmistress advised us to continue using her shop, as paying out pensions helped keep the

post office open. Then, out of the blue, a notice appeared in the shop window saying the business had closed down. Did Post Office bosses make the postmistress an offer she couldn’t refuse?
