Chelsea tractors

WHY do the Chelsea Flower Show designers keep going on about their gardens being about climate change, though all the work to create them has involved lorries, diggers, cranes and dumpers? One designer said he travelled the world to get the plants he needed, which is not a good example to set.

R. WILLIS, Derby. I ASSUME the designer of the canal lock gate that won gold at Chelsea got his idea from Trago Mills store and garden centre near Newton Abbot, Devon. It’s had a lock for ten years, complete with a barge. It also has a seashore display, gardener’s hut and beautiful floral displays — and, unlike Chelsea, it’s free.
