Talk Talk hails streaming boost
A SURGE in families streaming YouTube, Netflix and Amazon videos at home helped Talk Talk scoop a record number of ultra-fast fibre broadband customers.
Nearly half a million customers signed up to the telecoms group’s faster internet services in the year to March 31, including 152,000 in the fourth quarter alone.
Streaming works by piping information down newly installed fibre-optic cables.
Talk Talk boss Tristia Harrison said the amount of data used by the average household had risen by an ‘extraordinary’ 40pc with 60pc of usage coming from streaming.
Talk Talk posted flat annual revenues but reduced its losses from £100m to £5m.
