‘Abuse fantasist’ Nick wept as he told police: I saw 3 boys murdered

‘They warned me but I was selfish’

THE former nurse accused of lying about a VIP paedophile ring sobbed as he gave police graphic details of how he allegedly saw three boys murdered by the gang.

In a video of a police interview shown to jurors yesterday Carl Beech, 51, said that a boy called Scott was killed in a deliberate hit and run for being his ‘friend’, in defiance of his abusers’ orders.

He claimed he saw another unknown boy stabbed, raped and strangled by ex-Tory MP Harvey Proctor. A third boy, whose name he did not know, was allegedly murhim dered by the gang after he and other boys were told they had to decide ‘who was going to die’.

Discussing the first alleged murder, Beech – previously known by the pseudonym ‘Nick’ – said he saw a freckled boy with a ‘round face’ he named as Scott knocked down by a car in 1979 and left in a pool of blood.

Beech claimed he was dragged away and put in a vehicle in Kingston, south-west London. He told Detective Sergeant James Townly in the interview in November 2014 he had been warned by the former head of MI5 Sir Michael Hanley – whom he claimed was part of the VIP ring – not to have friends.

But not realising the ‘consequences’, he ignored it. In the police interview, played to Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, he tearfully said Scott was not one of the ring’s victims, but that they had found out about their friendship.

Beech said: ‘They warned me a number of times but I was selfish.’ He said he was walking with Scott in early summer when it happened. ‘I heard the car, the engine and as I turned around to see what the noise was, it hit him and he was thrown up into the air.’

Head bowed during much of the interview, Beech also told DS Townly how, in another incident, he saw a boy murdered by Mr Proctor. He claimed the incident happened in a house somewhere in London ‘when I was about 12 in 1980’. He said: ‘Harvey opened the door, we were taken to a back room and there was another man there – I don’t know who he was. Harvey hit a couple of times ... he didn’t resist him really.

Beech continued: ‘Harvey put his hands around his neck, he (the boy) reached for my hand. He gave up, he gave up he didn’t struggle.’

Discussing the third alleged murder, Beech said 12-18 months later Mr Proctor, former home secretary Leon Brittan, ex- MI5 boss Sir Michael and a fourth man were involved in another killing ‘ somewhere in London’.

Beech told how four boys – himself, ‘ Fred’, ‘ Duncan’ and another boy whose name he didn’t know – were forced by ‘the group’ to choose which of them died.

The father of one told DS Townly: ‘We were called in together, all four of us. We were told one of us was going to die that night... and we had to decide who was going to die.’

He said there was a shout from one of the men and a boy was chosen that they wanted to die. Beech told DS Townly: ‘They left us, they told him he was going to die... he didn’t want to, he didn’t want to die. They hit him and they just kept hitting him. He didn’t wake up, he stopped breathing.’

Earlier an ex-senior Army officer questioned whether it would be possible for children to be taken into the top security headquarters where Beech claims he was abused by top brass, including Sir Edwin (now Lord) Bramall, then head of the Armed Forces.

Beech also told police another extop officer, Lieutenant General Hugh Beach, was one of his abusers. Lt General Beach’s aide de camp, retired Colonel Mark Norbury, told jurors children were very rarely seen at Erskine Barracks in Wiltshire as it was a place of work.

Asked if he had seen children coming to visit him, Mr Norbury replied: ‘It seems an asinine question.’

Scotland Yard spent £2million investigating Beech’s allegations, which the force initially described as ‘credible and true’.

The homes of Lord Bramall, Lord Brittan and Mr Proctor were raided by detectives during the 16-month Met probe, which closed in March 2016 without any arrests or charges. Beech denies perverting the course of justice. The trial continues.
