SOUTHGATE GIVES STARS A HOLIDAY

- SAMI MOKBEL

ENGLAND manager Gareth Southgate has given his players the green light to fly overseas during their break from the UEFA Nations League training camp. The squad have the weekend off amid preparations for the finals in Portugal. The 13 players who reported for duty on Tuesday will reconvene at St George’s Park on Monday, when they will be joined by Manchester City’s Treble-winning stars and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. Those involved in the Europa League and Champions League finals will report on June 3 — just three days before the Nations League semi-final against Holland. In the past, England players had to surrender their passports ahead of tournaments. But Southgate wants to nurture a far more relaxed atmosphere around the England camp, preferring to treat his squad like adults.
