TWO fun-loving rascals have been reunited after many years. Denny Foster and Desi Sabados cut a dash swanning about London’s Carnaby Street in the Sixties. ‘We were real Likely Lads, taking our dates dancing and dining — usually in some caff with Formica tables — and to the flicks,’ said Denny. ‘We didn’t have much money, but we had fun.’ They worked in Soho as runners for film production companies. But in 1976, Denny settled down with girlfriend Jane and got a job in accounting. ‘There were not a lot of laughs, but I got stuck in, to Jane’s approval and Desi’s merciless ribbing,’ said Denny. ‘When I had a picture taken in a jacket and tie, he drew a beard on it and doctored my hair. I got angry, but later saw the funny side.’ The chums lost contact in 1978, when Desi and his then girlfriend Peg went on the hippie trail to India and Nepal. Now in their 60s, the hippie and the accountant are reunited. ‘These days, Desmond, as he now calls himself, is paunchy and bald. He looks more like an accountant than I do,’ says Denny.
