Sting axes gigs over throat bug

STING has cancelled a series of European tour dates due to a throat infection.

The singer, pictured, is thought to be recuperating in Tuscany.

After days of mystery over his illness, Sting yesterday told friends he had a viral throat infection.

The 67-year- old axed his show at the Ghent Jazz Festival in Belgium on Monday ‘due to doctor’s orders’. In the following days his Munich and Stuttgart dates were cancelled, as well as tonight’s gig at Slavkov u Brna in the Czech Republic.

There are doubts over his next gig in Weert, Netherlands, set for Sunday.
