Brewdog’s bitcoin bid
BREWDOG is seeking to raise £7m from the public, using bitcoin.
The craft brewer initially opened the offer between April 6 and July 5 and was accepting pounds. But following a lack of demand it has resorted to the controversial crypto-currency as a way of encouraging investors. The fundraising period has been extended until April 2020. It has also launched a beer called Cryptonite: Intergalactic Liquid Currency, and will give six cans to any investors paying in bitcoin.
Brewdog has already raised £67m from the public through a scheme called Equity for Punks. Participants get shares, although these are almost impossible to sell again as it is not listed.
