HOW IT WORKS AT SLiMMinG world, dieters choose from a list of low-fat foods called Free Foods, such as fruit, vegetables, pasta, potatoes, rice, lean meat, fish and eggs. These foods can be eaten in unlimited amounts.

Dieters also choose from Healthy Extras groups, which include milk and cheese for calcium, wholemeal bread and breakfast cereals for fibre and other essential minerals, and nuts and seeds for healthy oils.

There’s no calorie counting and no foods are banned. Some foods are restricted, however, known as Syns (or synergy foods) and have values attached: typically, slimmers are allowed between 5 and 15 syns a day. A small gin and Slimline Tonic, for example, equates to 4 Syns — the same as one chocolate digestive biscuit.
