READER’S QUESTION

-

WE HAVE blight on our potato leaves and were told it can spread to tomatoes, even in a greenhouse. How can I protect them?

K. Durrant, Suffolk. BLIghT spores are carried in the air. But they’re transferred to plant leaves by rainsplash. But greenhouse crops are protected from rain and should stay blight-free. If any of your tomato plants are near the greenhouse door or under a vent, make sure they can’t be rained upon. Spores can also come from potato debris left lying about. So clear your garden of all crop remains.
