HOW THE SLIMMING WORLD PLAN WORKS

-

SLIMMING World’s healthy eating plan, called Food Optimising, is based on the science of satiety (feeling ‘full’) and energy density. This means eating foods that are best for satisfying your appetite and have the fewest calories per gram of food. Food Optimising shows you how to adopt a healthy eating plan for life — without ever feeling hungry or deprived. The plan works by encouraging slimmers to fill up on Free Food, which you can eat without having to weigh, count or measure anything. You can also enjoy measured amounts of Healthy Extras (to provide extra nutrients such as fibre and calcium) and limited amounts of extra treats called ‘Syns’. Base your meals around Free Food. These are the foods that are both satisfying and low in energy density so you can enjoy them freely to satisfy your appetite without needing to weigh, measure or count calories. They include lean meat, plain tofu, Quorn, fish, pasta, rice, potatoes, eggs, pulses, fat-free dairy, fruit and vegetables. If you feel hungry between meals, snack on these. For the very best weight-loss results, first reach for fresh fruit or vegetables. You’re also encouraged to eat measured quantities of foods for extra fibre and calcium to help you get a balanced diet. These include milk, cheese, cereals and wholemeal bread. And, so that you never feel deprived, you can also enjoy limited amounts of Syns — less-filling foods which tend to be high in fat or sugar (or both) such as chocolate and crisps. Nothing is banned at Slimming World, so you don’t have to feel deprived or give anything up completely. For more details about how the Slimming World programme works visit slimmingworld.co.uk.
