Bulldog Boris

-

How wonderful to hear Boris Johnson say: ‘we the politicians are here to serve you.’ The past three years in westminster have been spent ignoring the mandate, the result of the Referendum, to bring in their wishes.

They dismiss the people who voted to leave as being too stupid to understand what we voted for and they want their way, as illustrated so vulgarly by the Liberals.

It is those politicians who are not prepared to carry out the will of the people who should be ignored and, hopefully, when the next election comes, lose their seats.

I hope for every success for Mr Johnson, our prime minister; that he is treated with respect and support to achieve his aims.

Kate MaNNiNG, Wittersham, Kent. HavIng listened to our new PM’s speech and his detractors (predominantly connected to the BBC, Labour and Lib Dems) sneering at his rhetoric and lack of substance, I loved his rousing and encouraging words.

Rhetoric? Maybe. But another master of rhetoric kept Britain’s spirits up 80 years ago. and, as a result, we won a war. It worked for Churchill, who made us believe in our capabilities. I believe it will work for Boris — restoring our pride in our country and its amazing people. Mrs JeNNiFer GriGG,

Margate, Kent. I Have just listened to Boris Johnston deliver his Churchillian speech. Impressive is an understatement; he spoke about all the kinds of things that would have been said after world war II.

That was a time when the British people pulled together to rebuild great Britain and to achieve the prosperity we experienced through the Sixties and Seventies.

when we joined the common market, sadly, we were slid into a european union and we saw inflation go through the roof.

Let us hope our brave new prime minister can put his money where his mouth is and achieve some of the promises he has just made. ‘go, go, Bojo!’

GeorGe SMitH, Stevenage, Herts. Have just been watching the ‘coronation’ of Boris Johnson on the BBC — what a biased and pessimistic load of garbage from their reporters! Thankfully, this lot were not around in 1944 when Churchill was trying to get the D-D landings sorted out. They would never have taken place. aSHley CaNtor, Buntingford, Herts. Make way for winston Churchill reborn. Boris has got the bit between his teeth, and if anyone can get the job done, it is he. The Churchillian spirit rises again — now let all the doomsters get behind him and put the ‘great’ back in Britain. ColiN yoxeN, Canvey island, essex.
