STEPHEN Clarke, the boss of stationery chain WH Smith, has sold £1m worth of shares.

Clarke ( pictured), 51, revealed plans to step down as chief executive earlier this year.

During his six years at the helm he has expanded the retailer’s travel divis i o n , which includes stores in airports, trains stations and hospitals, which now account for 70pc of operating profit.
