- By Hannah Dawson

A MAN of 25 has been arrested over the murder of University of Hull student Libby Squire, whose body was pulled from the Humber estuary in March.

Police confirmed he was arrested yesterday morning and remained in custody being questioned by detectives.

Miss Squire disappeared following a night out in February and police launched a murder investigation after her body was discovered six weeks later.

Humberside Police said: ‘A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of 21-year- old Libby Squire in February this year. The man was arrested earlier today and is currently being questioned by detectives.

‘Libby was reported missing in the early hours of Friday, February 1, 2019, after a

night out in Hull with friends. Just over six weeks later Libby’s body was recovered from the Humber Estuary.

‘Libby’s family continue to receive support from specially trained officers and have been updated on the investigation.’

The philosophy student disappeared after she was refused entry at popular student haunt, the Welly Club in Hull, on January 31. She was put in a taxi by her friend and dropped off at her home in Wellesley Avenue at 11.29pm.

However, she did not go inside and went to sit on a bench further down the road. She was later pictured on CCTV getting into a car just after midnight on February 1 – the last time she was seen.

In February, Pawel Relowicz, 25, was arrested on suspicion of Libby’s abduction. The married father- of-two was released under investigation without being charged after being questioned for several days. Relowicz is the only person to have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

In May, police shared an update on the ‘complex’ inquiry. ‘We have to ensure we are meticulous with every aspect and detail covered.’
