Zomboat!, 10pm, ITV2 THE Walking Dead is a popular show, but it’s also a rather depressing one. So, the day after the new series starts, step forward Zomboat! as the antidote — a very silly new comedy about zombies taking over Birmingham. Those fleeing include Jo (Downton’s Cara Theobold, pictured), who believes a canal boat escape is the answer, hence the title.

Forster: His Longest Journey, 10pm, Sky Arts THE writer of Howards End and A Passage To India died at the age of 91 in 1970, and it was only then that anyone was allowed to turn his books into films. During his life, he always refused permission. This measured new profile gives great detail on that life and his struggle with homosexual­ity.

The Amelia Gething Complex, BBC3 (via iPlayer) AMUSINGLY self-aware mix of sketch and flatshare comedy, built around the YouTube star. The best jokes flow from social awkwardnes­s.

FILM ROMCOM

The South Bank Show Originals, 11pm, Sky Arts MELVYN BRAGG reflects on an interview conducted at the Oxford home of Philip Pullman in 2003. A large part of their conversati­on is given over to Pullman’s collection of fantasy novels His Dark Materials, a BBC adaptation of which is due to start on November 3.
