BIG BEASTS Monster Croc Wrangler, 8pm, Nat Geo Wild

MATT WRIGHT has been described as a ‘modern-day Crocodile Dundee’, but he prefers to be compared to Steve Irwin. His seemingly fearless exploits are the basis of this returning series, which begins with him trying to save a rancher’s cattle from a marauding croc. (Sky 165, Virgin 264)

STEPHEN MANGAN and Joan Bakewell return as the hosts for a new series of the polished painting challenge. In the first of the regional heats, a fresh batch of artists are challenged to capture Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse in Plymouth.

TELLY TALES Lenny Henry’s Race Through Comedy, 9pm, Gold

OVER the next three nights, Lenny Henry will be focusing on the iconic shows that have shone a light on Britain’s rich mix of multicultu­ralism. The first episode looks at the sitcom, and it’s a story of evolution, starting with Love Thy Neighbour and moving through Desmond’s to Chewing Gum.

MEDICAL DRAMA The Good Doctor, 9pm, Sky Witness

THIS slick U.S. drama returns for a third season, and autistic savant surgeon Shaun Murphy (deftly played by Britain’s Freddie Highmore, pictured) isn’t just focused on work any more. In this first episode, he goes on a date with Carly, for which he reads six joke books in preparatio­n. It’s not an easy night.

SCI-FI FAVOURITE V: The Original Series, 9pm, Forces TV

JANE BADLER plays the face of an invading alien force in this first of a daily repeat for the 1983 drama. V may look silly on the surface, but at its core was a heartfelt comparison to the rise of Fascism. (Freeview 96, Freesat 165, Sky 181, Virgin 277)

BRIT SITCOM Zomboat!, 10pm, ITV2

THE group’s amusingly slow escape from Birmingham continues in part two as the canal boat arrives at a lock — and the shambling zombies on the banks start to catch up. We also meet a new character, a massive zombie nerd whom the computer jargon-spouting Kat (Leah Brotherhea­d) utterly idolises.

SIXTIES FILM Girl With Green Eyes, 10pm, Talking Pictures TV

RITA TUSHINGHAM is the naive Kate Brady, a good Catholic girl who embarks on an affair with an older man (Peter Finch). Lynn Redgrave co-stars as Kate’s friend, Baba Brennan, in a drama based on Edna O’Brien’s The Lonely Girl — which is also adapted for Radio 4 this week.

ON-DEMAND MOVIE Ma, Sky Store/Virgin Movies

INTERESTIN­G horror in which people are not allowed upstairs — rather than downstairs. Octavia Spencer stars as the eccentric figure who opens her basement to teens who want to drink.
