- By David Wilkes

‘Very emotional for everyone’

THEY have all lost a parent who will never see them grow up.

Some are probably only just beginning to understand the ultimate sacrifice made by a heroic father; others are grappling with the grief of bereavement at an age when they should not have to.

each of these 18 children has tragically lost a parent while serving in the military. yesterday they made a poignant sight as they lined up behind veterans and joined in the march past the Cenotaph.

Aged from seven to 16, they marched together as part of the charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers. through it, they have formed friendships that have helped them through their grief.

It was the first time youngsters helped by the charity, which supports bereaved children in Forces families, have taken part in the Remembrance Sunday parade.

Some wore the medals of the parent they have lost. All wore distinctive yellow and black scarves – the colours of the charity’s founder nikki Scott’s late husband’s regiment.
