I loved Labour but I had to vote Tory

-

I HAVE always voted for Labour — until this General Election, when I voted for the Tories. It broke my heart to do so, but Momentum has ruined the party I have supported all my life. This group of people wants to change politics in this country, but why did it have to hijack the Labour Party? It should have stood for election in its own right. neither Jeremy Corbyn nor John McDonnell have the guts to get rid of this cancer in Labour. They have certainly not dealt with the accusations of anti-Semitism within the Party. Momentum is the puppeteer and Corbyn has been its puppet. Momentum is to blame for the Labour Party losing the election, not Brexit. I sincerely hope that a new Labour leader will transform it back to the real People’s Party.

STEPHEN KANE, Manchester. I AM so proud of my fellow countrymen and women. Those people who would never in a million years have dreamed of voting Tory came out in their thousands and voted Conservative because they saw through the dogma and realised we would have a worse society under Labour. They wanted their voices heard. The people in the north who voted Leave, but were treated with disdain by their Remain-supporting MPs, stood up and were counted. It takes a big person to go against everything they have believed in for years. They wanted a people’s vote — and they got one. now let’s unite as a country.

CATHERINE BROWN, Helston, cornwall.

THE Prime Minister is to be praised for wasting no time in travelling to the north to thank the people who made his overwhelming victory possible. It must have been so difficult to vote Conservative in places that have always been Labour through and through. now Boris Johnson must deliver on his promise to prove we really are one nation.

JOHN EVANS, Wokingham, Berks.

ENGLAND has never been more united. The traditionally Labour north-East and the traditionally Liberal Democrat South-West have voted Tory. Don’t blow it Boris!

JIM WATLING, launceston, cornwall.
