I’ve had 21 girlfriends — but I’m not sure how!

- Interviews: SAMANTHA BRICK

DATING PAST?

I’ve had 21 girlfriends, but I’m not sure how! I was with one girlfriend for five years and, while we did talk lightly about marriage, it wasn’t serious. We ended it mutually and, looking back, I can see our relationship had run its course. I think I can be a caring boyfriend, but I do need time on my own, too.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

noT at all. I’m organised and like to arrive in advance.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

leAh looked beautiful and is definitely my type. she arrived late, but she apologised profusely.

EASY TO TALK TO?

leAh is extremely professional. From the moment she arrived, she took control, ordering our drinks. I was surprised, but let her go ahead.

leah took charge of the conversation and steered the subjects we talked about. We covered our childhoods, careers and long-term ambitions. I must confess it did feel like a job interview at times. As soon as she knew about every aspect of my life, she then launched into telling me about her career and her ambitions.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

no, BuT there was a funny moment when she found out I’d just celebrated my birthday and she insisted on ordering us Champagne. she is very forward, but lots of fun.

DID SPARKS FLY?

leAh is a lovely person, but I think she is too focused on her job. I understand the pressures of her world, but she confessed she doesn’t get a chance to see her family as often as she would like, or have time to expand her friendship circle. I used to work in marketing, so I know it’s easy to get caught up in that world. That said, I’d like to see her again. We swapped numbers and hopefully we’ll meet up before Christmas. leah’s a good match for me. I suspect if we met in a few years’ time she would be ready to settle down.

DID YOU KISS?

I kIssed her on each cheek. If we hadn’t had to work the next day, we’d have probably gone on elsewhere.

WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE THOUGHT OF YOU?

IT’s tricky — you just never know what women are really thinking. If pushed, I’d say she liked me because I’m easy company and also outgoing.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY LIKE HER?

My MuM would hit it off with leah because she’s also a very strong woman. she would like leah’s spirit.
