Comical! US trade deal with Wakanda
BLUNDERING US officials claimed they had a free-trade agreement with the fictional homeland of a comic book superhero.
Wakanda, the East African homeland of Marvel’s Black Panther, was listed as an official trade partner on the US department of agriculture’s website.
It included a list of goods the nations traded, including ducks, donkeys and cows.
The error was tweeted by a software engineer who joked the US should flood Wakanda ‘with cheap subsidised corn’. It was then removed, prompting further jokes the two nations had had a trade war.
