BUCKINGHAM Palace and Windsor Castle are being fitted with a burglar alarm which plays a gramophone record in Scotland Yard the moment either building is entered by intruders. ‘Intruders have entered Windsor Castle,’ the recorded voice repeats.

ROAD casualties dropped sharply in october, the month the new drink limit and breath test law came in. Transport Minister Mrs Barbara Castle gave the figures last night in a pre-Christmas safety appeal. overall casualties were down 12 per cent for the year. Mrs Castle said: ‘These figures do not mean that Barbara Castle is having a go at motorists — they mean that people have become more responsible.’
