Cowell goes from tubby to toned in one year
WHAT a difference a year makes. As Simon Cowell relaxes on a beach in Barbados, he cuts a very contrasting figure to this time last year.
Then, the music mogul showed all the signs of middle-aged spread on his annual Christmas vacation in the Caribbean. But on Wednesday, on the same Bridgetown beach, the 60-year-old proudly showed off the results of a lifestyle overhaul that has seen him shed 2st in weight.
Cowell’s trim physique is the result of changes that have included adopting a vegan diet and shunning sweet treats such as jam tarts.

carrying a blue life-jacket, joined girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 42, and son Eric, five, to soak up the sun and hit the waves on a jet ski.
Cowell has previously revealed that he calls his new regime the Eric Cowell diet in honour of his young son, because ‘apart from ice cream, he actually likes water – I mean, who likes water? – and his raw vegetables’.
He said he was told to cut out red meat, dairy, sugar, bread and gluten after suffering low blood pressure. It means he has had to miss out on two of his favourites, sausage rolls and jam tarts.
‘The first few weeks were difficult, but then I stopped craving sugar,’ he has admitted. ‘The hardest part is when I see Eric eat a pizza.’
