MANCHESTER CITY will resist any attempt by Arsenal to sign John Stones this month. Former City No 2 Mikel Arteta has been linked with a move for the England defender after he was appointed as Arsenal boss last month but it is understood City have no plans to sell any players in this window and certainly not centre backs. Aymeric Laporte has recently returned to training after a knee injury but Guardiola still needs Stones.

CHE ADAMS will fight for a place at Southampton after being reassured about his future by manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. Leeds had been interested in a loan for Adams, 23 following Eddie Nketiah’s return to Arsenal.

SOUTHAMPTON have expressed interest in Fulham defender Joe Bryan, who has attracted enquiries from Watford and Atalanta. WATFORD have signed Argentine winger Ignacio Pussetto from Udinese for £7million.

CHELSEA midfielder Conor Gallagher will join Swansea City on loan until the end of the season. The England Under 21 was recalled from Charlton amid interest from Burnley, Norwich and West Brom but Swansea boss Steve Cooper’s relationship with Chelsea was key in turning the deal in their favour. Swansea goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt has joined Genclerbirligi in Turkey on a free transfer.

LEICESTER CITY’S Andy King has agreed to join Huddersfield Town on loan. Leicester want a centre back on loan with Derby targeting Filip Benkovic.

WEST HAM will resume talks for Middlesbrough’s Darren Randolph after checking on his thigh injury. Former Oxford United and Millwall goalkeeper Jordan Archer, 26, has undergone a medical at FULHAM as cover in case Marcus Bettinelli leaves this month. WOLVES forward Rafa Mir, 22, has cut short his loan at Nottingham Forest to join Spanish side Huesca on an 18-month loan.

INTER MILAN have joined Barcelona and Juventus in the chase to sign Manchester United’s Tahith Chong this summer, when the 20-year-old is out of contract.
