Hitting the thigh notes, Beyonce and Nicole at Grammys

- By Izzy Ferris

IT is billed as music’s biggest night. But the Grammy Awards are starting to feel more like music’s longest day as the stars gathered in Los Angeles well ahead of last night’s main event. And proving the ceremony is as much about glitz as hits, Beyonce and Nicole Scherzinger stole the pre-party limelight in some showstopping numbers. Beyonce led the way in a striking red Valdrin Sahiti dress cut high on the thigh as she arrived at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy Gala in Beverly Hills. She was there with husband Jay-Z, who between them form pop’s leading power couple. Bey, 38, got four nominations including for Best Vocal Pop Album with The Lion King: The Gift. Miss Scherzinger was equally sensational in a white sleeveless gown also cut high on the leg. The Pussycat Doll, 41, is preparing to join her old bandmates for a reunion tour in April.

Also at the event on Saturday night was Ozzy Osbourne, just days after revealing he has been battling Parkinson’s disease. The British rocker, 71 – who wore matching black with wife Sharon and daughter Kelly – arrived at the event holding a cane.

Last night’s main ceremony was hosted by Alicia Keys, who has won 15 Grammys herself.

Singer-songwriter Lizzo led the nominations with eight in total, including for album and song of the year.

Billie Eilish became at 17 the youngest star to receive nominations in all four of the main categories, while British stars Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi were up for one award each.
