Last year registermycarclaim.co.uk appeared at the top of Google searches for ‘aviva insurance’. this transcript of a call from an aviva investigator to one of the firm’s claims agents shows how victims are misled into believing they are dealing with their real insurer . . .

CLAIMS AGENT: Good afternoon, you’re through to the claims team. My name is Dylan, can I take your name please? AVIVA: Hi. Sorry, I’ve just had an accident. Is this Aviva? CLAIMS AGENT: You’ve come through to the notification line for reporting new claims and accidents, sir. Is that what you’re doing today? AVIVA: It is. Are you Aviva? CLAIMS AGENT: What happened, sir? Take me over what happened. AVIVA: Sorry, am I through to the right person because my insurance is through Aviva. Are you Aviva? CLAIMS AGENT: Yo u’ ve come through to the notification line for reporting new claims and accidents, sir. We work alongside various different insurance companies. Can I take your car registration, please? I’ll look at it in the system. AVIVA: Sorry, I’m a bit confused. You work for several different companies? CLAIMS AGENT: OK, when did the accident happen? AVIVA: So, you work for Aviva? CLAIMS AGENT: We work alongside them, sir. We’re an accident report line. So if you’ve had an accident and you report it to us, we can sort it out for you. AVIVA: Right, because I’ve Googled Aviva’s telephone number and that’s come up with you guys. So Aviva work with you and are aware of you, are they? CLAIMS AGENT: Yeah, we work alongside them, yes.
