Brain Games, 8pm, National Geographic THE Good Place’s Kristen Bell and her husband, the actor Dax Shepard, go head to head in the first of a new series that uses games to test difference­s between men and women. It’s insightful, but it’s also just nice to watch the banter between this good-natured couple.

READY, STEADY, THROW

The Great Pottery Throw Down, 9pm,p, More4 THE potters make a lamp,lamp which will be wired up and switched on in front of judges Sue Pryke and Keith Brymer Jones (pictured). Plenty of ambition goes into the designs, which range from sheep to the Wild West, and the moment when the bulbs are turned on is surprising­ly exciting.

HOLY FAMILY

The Righteous Gemstones, 9pm, Sky Comedy A FAMILY of U.S. TV evangelist­s are threatened with blackmail in Sky’s new comedy from HBO, which stars the great John Goodman as Eli, the head of the bickering Gemstone clan. As becomes clear in this amusing opener, their bad behaviour has made this lot particular­ly easy targets for extortion.

FREEVIEW MOVIE

Bad Neighbours, 9pm, E4

IN THIS rude, crude yet enjoyably energetic comedy, it’s not just the frat boys who behave badly, but also their supposedly more mature neighbours. Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne star as the couple with a baby daughter, who don’t take kindly to the all-night partying next door. Zac Efron is the frat boy leader they go up against.

PANEL SHOW

Hypothetic­al, 10pm, Dave

GUESTS act out solutions to ridiculous hypothetic­al problems in this reliably funny returning panel show. In the best section, Jonathan Ross hosts a spoof version of his own talk show with a high-end (pretend) line-up of guests, leading Ross to joke about his usual line-up of ‘B-listers’.

NEW COMEDY

Findingg Joy,y, 10pm,p, W AMY HUBERMAN writes and stars in this generally chirpy new Irish comedy about the aftermath of a break-up. Joy (Huberman, pictured) lives her life according to strict rules and is not fond of change, so a break-up is particular­ly hard on her, and this opening episode piles on the pressure until she realises that maybe change isn’t such a bad thing after all.

SPOOKY HORROR

The Field Guide To Evil, 10.10pm, Sky Premiere

A GRIMLY enjoyable horror film bringing together eight nightmaris­h stories from around the globe, exploring mankind’s darkest fears.

FUNNY FILM

Poms, Sky Store

THIS comedy about a cheerleade­rs’ club for mature women stars Diane Keaton, Pam Grier and Rhea Perlman. It’s a fairly generic offering, but Keaton, Perlman and Grier are always worth watching.
