HERE IS THE NEWS ... BBC BILL’S BACK!
‘No shouting, no ranting ... a professional’
BRAVE Bill Turnbull was reunited with Susanna Reid yesterday after a four-year absence from breakfast TV – and it was as if he had never been away.
Viewers were delighted as the veteran broadcaster, who is battling cancer, picked up where he left off with his old co-presenter on Good Morning Britain.
The much-loved duo, last seen together on BBC Breakfast in 2014 before she left for the ITV show, began with a hug before Turnbull, 64, said: ‘I can’t believe this is really happening. I feel like I’m coming home.’
After a flashback from their first appearance together in 2006, Turnbull told Miss Reid, 49: ‘You haven’t aged a day’ while she commented on his ‘lustrous’ head of hair.
Turnbull, who revealed two years ago he had been diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer, joked: ‘I lost most of it during chemo and I let it grow. I look a bit like Jonathan Ross at the moment.’
Viewers told of their delight at seeing the pair back together, calling Turnbull a ‘consummate professional’ who was ‘calm and respectful’ to guests. Regular host Piers Morgan returns next week but some called for Turnbull to stay, with one saying: ‘No shouting, no ranting – should be permanent...’
