Military Wives stars roll out red carpet for the originals

- By Lizzie Deane

STARS of the film Military Wives rubbed shoulders with their real- life counterparts on the red carpet last night.

The film tells the story of the original Military Wives choir which formed at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire in 2010.

Choirmaster Gareth Malone formed replica military wives choirs across the country for his BBC series.

It led to the recording of the single Wherever You Are – which became Christmas No 1 in 2011. Last night the Army wives and partners who make up the choir met the film’s stars, including Dame Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan, at the London premiere at Cineworld in Leicester Square.

Dame Kristin, 59, stunned in an anklelength gold gown, with matching strap heels. Miss Horgan, 49, wore a satin black jumpsuit, with metallic silver heels.

Military Wives is in cinemas from March 6.
