Forgotten debt

-

I WOULD like to invite the French foreign minister to meet me at the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres on July 10 when former RAF servicemen and women commemorate the 80th anniversary of the start of the Battle of Britain.

This was fought by the UK almost alone, but had to be won at all costs in order for the Allies to liberate France and the rest of Europe from the tyranny of the Germans.

If Winston Churchill had looked into his crystal ball, he may have thought: ‘Why bother?’

It made my blood boil when the French foreign minister said Britain and France will rip each other apart in post-Brexit negotiations.

Perhaps he could explain to me why there has to be tough negotiations. Surely it’s only a case of tidying up current trade agreements?
