Purchasing power
THE answer to the drawn- out discussions between the Government and the Eu may be down to ordinary citizens.
I have often bought cheese and meat from France and the netherlands, fruit and vegetables from Spain and wine from Italy. Many of us drive cars manufactured abroad and enjoy visiting Europe.
If the ordinary citizens of Europe, not the Eurocrats, were to notice a fall in their trade, they would soon put pressure on those who are making the likelihood of no Deal a distinct possibility.
When I go shopping now, I only look for goods from Britain and NONEU countries. HELEN MANWARING, Attleborough, Norfolk. WE KEEP being told by the Eu about what sort of trade deal they are going to give us.
How will they react, then, if instead of French wine we buy Australian, South African, Californian or even British? If we stop going on holiday to Spain, Italy and Greece, I am sure these countries will soon start to be more flexible.
If the Eu wants to play hardball in the trade negotiations, the ordinary people of Britain should reciprocate. I know which side will be worst off.
