Today’s poem

-

TODAY’S THE DAY!

Today’s the day for tossing Golden pancakes in the air! And for dancing about in wellington boots On my frosty lawn without a care. Today’s the day for shouting To the sun: ‘Turn up the heat!’ I’ve had enough of grey, leaden skies And cold hands, cold face, cold feet. Today’s the day for spotting Curved rainbows in the sky, And for hopping about with the sparrows, Flapping my arms, pretending to fly. Today’s the day for listening To dormant nature, just waking up. Birds form a choir to make music With whistles, coos and chirrups. Today’s the day for deep breathing The faint smell of blossoms on trees once bare And carried on the wind, the fragrant message That spring is in the air!

Mrs Anita Bass, Theydon Bois, Essex.
