Unfair home tax
I ASSUME the reader who called for a wealth tax (Letters) does not own his own home. To buy a house you need funds that have been taxed at source, you have to pay a substantial amount in stamp duty and then pay council tax on the value of your house. The more expensive the house, the more tax you pay.
To bring in a mansion tax would be unfair. It is also iniquitous that when homeowners go into care or die, the proceeds from their houses pay for their care or are taken in inheritance tax.
