KATE Beckinsale has revealed an encounter with disgraced Harvey Weinstein that left her ‘shaking’ and in ‘tears’.
The British actress, 46, said the film mogul launched a foul-mouthed rant following the 2001 premiere for Serendipity, saying she had ‘ruined’ the night by not wearing a ‘tight dress’.
The Hollywood producer, 67, was sentenced to 23 years in prison on Wednesday by a judge in New York after he was convicted of sex attacks on two women.
Shortly afterwards, Miss Beckinsale shared a snap of herself from the premiere with her four million followers and described how Weinstein – whose company Miramax distributed the film – had invited her to his home the next day under the pretence of a play date with their children.
She said he launched into a terrifying tirade, during which he berated her for wearing a suit to the event. She wrote: ‘I turned up and he immediately called for his nanny to take the babies to another room to play. I went to go with them and he said, “No, you wait here”.
‘The minute the door closed he started screaming “you stupid f***ing ****, you **** you ruined my premiere”. I had no idea what he was talking about and started to shake. He said, “If I am throwing a red carpet you get in a tight dress, you shake your ass, you shake your t***, you do not go down it looking like a f***ing lesbian you stupid f***ing ****”. The shock made me burst into tears.’ Miss Beckinsale told of her ‘huge relief’ at Weinstein’s jail term. She said: ‘Hearing that he has gone to prison for 23 years is a huge relief to me on behalf of all the women he sexually assaulted or raped, and I hope will be a deterrent to that sort of behaviour in this and any other industry.’
THEIR hair has turned white, but the pose is the same as John Cleese and Jamie Lee Curtis re-enact their clinch from the classic comedy A Fish Called Wanda.
Miss Curtis, 61, and 80-year-old Cleese shared a photograph of them enjoying lunch yesterday and imitating their embrace from the poster of the 1988 film.
Posting both images on Instagram, she wrote: ‘Something’s fishy here.... oh right, WE ARE OLD! Wanderful lunch with Mr Cleese. #notdeadyet’
Fans of the film, which also starred Cleese’s fellow Monty Python star Michael Palin, were delighted to see the reunion.
One wrote, ‘You have aged beautifully’, while another commented on Instagram: ‘You two both look amazing!’
A third said: ‘One of the funniest movies ever made. Brilliant cast.’
