THIS IS WHAT 50 LOOKS LIKE

- BY FLORENCE SCORDOULIS

BrindE COllinS, a retired ballet dancer who now runs an interior design company (seaandsandinteriors. co.uk), lives in dorset with her husband Simon. They have a daughter, Mia rosa, 19.

NATURAL BOTOX

I DON’T want to look younger than I am, just good for my age. So I haven’t had Botox or any other tweakments or surgery. However, a great cheat is Frownies Facial Patches (£21.95 for 144,

frownies.co.uk). You stick the adhesive strip between your brows during the night. I do it four nights a week. It has evened out my terrible furrow line.

SKINCARE SWITCH UP

IT IS also important to invest in good quality skincare. I used to use the Dior Prestige cleanser, cream and oil, but it got too expensive. So I’ve swapped to Avene Hydrance Rich Hydrating Cream Moisturiser (£10.87,

boots.com). It was recommended by my dermatologist as the ingredients don’t clog pores.

DIY BLOW DRY

I DISCOVERED the Revlon Pro Collection One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumiser (£59.99, argos.co.uk). It’s an oblong brush which dries your hair while adding a relaxed curl — in about five minutes! I find the effect is as good as a salon blow dry.

SIX-WEEK CHALLENGE

AFTER retiring from ballet at 44, it was difficult to make the transition into other exercise. I can’t go running as my hips are too turned out from dancing, which makes it painful. However, then I heard about workout DVD Slim In Six by Debbie Siebers ( amazon.co.uk): it’s a combination of weight-bearing and cardio exercises to tone your abs, thighs and bum for six weeks. It’s honestly made me more bikini ready than ballet ever did.

DAILY CREATIVITY

I HAVE found that crafting is the best way to de-stress. I try to do something creative every day. I’ve always loved oil painting, but have also got into sanding and re-purposing old furniture, which I’m learning from YouTube tutorials. I’ve also started doing photography, since setting up my own interior design business.
