SUMMER COUNTRY WALK

Along leafy lanes past lofty trees What joy to wander where you please. Along paths, across meadows green Where colourful butterflies can be seen Fluttering among the meadow flowers, A peaceful sight in the sunshine hours. Shades of red, yellow, white and blue Are the butterflies and flowers too. Birdsong above and in the trees, The steady hum of bumblebees Stopping by a gentle flowing stream Seeing the waters sparkle and gleam. Dragonflies darting, swooping, of colours bright, Colours fluorescent, glittering in the sunlight. The soft lowing of the cows As they leisurely and happily browse. It is on such a day as this Walking in the country is such bliss.
