■ JAMES WARD-PROWSE is the new Southampton captain after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was stripped of the armband ahead of an expected departure. Hojbjerg recently said he wants to play at an ‘even higher level’. Boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said: ‘If you want to be the captain, the leader, you must be someone who is also here next season.’ Ward-Prowse, 25, is an academy graduate at St Mary’s. His first job as captain will be the trip to Norwich tomorrow night.
