Goodnight, sweet prince... Jenna and ‘Albert’ split
JENNA Coleman has reportedly split from her boyfriend and Victoria co-star Tom Hughes after four years together.
The actress, 34, and Hughes, 35, began dating while playing the lead roles of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in the hit ITV Sunday night period drama.
The pair are said to be ‘terribly sad’ but are attempting to ‘salvage a friendship’ after the relationship ‘ran its course’, it has been claimed.
Pictures appeared to show Miss Coleman, who also starred in Doctor Who, moving into a new home with help from Hughes.
The couple were reportedly seen chatting outside before Hughes, who starred opposite Dame Judi Dench in 2018 film Red Joan, drove off alone.
‘They are trying to salvage a friendship but obviously these are trying times, and it’s not easy,’ a source told The Sun.
‘Tom actually helped Jenna with her new place, and they’ve met up this week to talk things through and keep everything as friendly and civil as possible.
‘Both Tom and Jenna are terribly sad, but the relationship ran its course. There was no third party involved.
‘Jenna’s career is going from strength to strength, she’s being offered increasingly more roles abroad, especially in Los Angeles, and she wants to focus on this while she’s still young.’
The first series of Victoria aired in 2016. With the third season ending on a cliffhanger, there is room for another but it is not yet known if and when this will happen.
While Miss Coleman and Hughes began dating after the show started filming, they had in fact met previously – in 2013 on the set of drama series Dancing On The Edge.
Both Miss Coleman and Hughes’ representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
