Doyle’s a City lad to the core

-

A TOUCHING moment came and went almost unnoticed as Manchester City beat Newcastle 5-0 at the Etihad. Making his Premier League debut was 18-year-old Tommy Doyle, grandson of not one but two City legends. On the paternal side, the late Mike Doyle played 448 times in the league for the club, while maternal grandad Glyn Pardoe turned out 305 times after making his debut at the age of 15. Pardoe passed away only in May and was particularly close to young Tommy. But Pep Guardiola’s latest academy graduate will at least never be allowed to forget his big night after being presented with his framed match shirt signed by all his team-mates.
