IT’S no use the national Police chiefs’ council saying officers will use the full force of the law to bring to justice criminals such as the killers of Pc Harper. they need the support of the Government and judiciary because the law just isn’t fit for purpose or robust enough to ensure the punishment fits the crime, particularly when there are legal aid-grabbing lawyers looking for ways to defend the indefensible. WHAT an appalling kick in the teeth for Lissie Harper to give £465,000 of taxpayers’ money to defend the thugs who killed her husband while he was doing his duty.

WOULDN’T it be fitting if the taxpayer-funded legal aid was instead donated to the andrew’s Law campaign for life sentences for those who kill members of the emergency services.
