How to run the country
CRITICISM of ministers’ management skills (Letters) goes to the heart of the misunderstanding and criticism about government.
Ministers should be appointed for leadership, not management. a leader looks at strategy and motivation while a manager is responsible for putting that into practice and planning how this is done.
Leaders look at the options and choose the most appropriate one for the situation.
i do agree that today’s ministers fall between two stools. their role needs to be clarified and the civil service should be called to account. it appears these are the managers avoiding responsibility.
