Sheeran’s new No 1 as first child is born – meet Lyra Antarctica

HE HAS made a string of chart-topping records which have sold millions.

But Ed Sheeran appeared proudest of his latest production yesterday – as he announced his wife Cherry Seaborn had given birth to their first child.

He said the couple, pictured, were ‘on cloud nine’ as he posted a picture of a tiny pair of socks and a blanket as he revealed the arrival of Lyra Antarctica.

However, there was no photo of the baby girl. Sheeran, 29, wrote to his 31.3million Instagram followers: ‘We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here.’ The choice of the name Lyra may have been inspired by the heroine in Sheeran’s favourite book series Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials. A picture shared on Instagram of Sheeran apparently at the South Pole last December hinted at the reason for ‘Antarctica’.
