Web star is new Blue Peter host

A YOUTUBE star was yes­ter­day named as the 40th pre­sen­ter of Blue Peter.

Adam Beales, 20, will make his de­but on the CBBC chil­dren’s show to­mor­row. Beales, known on­line as Adam B, said: ‘ I’m su­perex­cited to be­come Blue Peter pre­sen­ter No 40. I am hum­bled and ec­static to be part of such a leg­endary pro­duc­tion.’ He added: ‘I can’t wait to get stuck in.’ The new host, pic­tured, from Lon­don­derry, fol­lows in the foot­steps of fel­low North­ern Ir­ish presenters Zoe Sal­mon and the late Caron Keat­ing.

Beales, who also stars on CBBC’s The Dog Ate My Home­work, has nearly three mil­lion YouTube sub­scribers. His videos fea­ture pranks, chal­lenges, DIY crafts and life hacks.

Blue Peter edi­tor Ellen Evans said: ‘He’s a nat­u­ral in front of the cam­era but he’s also very funny, in­cred­i­bly warm, bril­liant with kids and also per­haps a lit­tle bit mis­chievous.’
