Web star is new Blue Peter host

A YOUTUBE star was yesterday named as the 40th presenter of Blue Peter.

Adam Beales, 20, will make his debut on the CBBC children’s show tomorrow. Beales, known online as Adam B, said: ‘ I’m superexcited to become Blue Peter presenter No 40. I am humbled and ecstatic to be part of such a legendary production.’ He added: ‘I can’t wait to get stuck in.’ The new host, pictured, from Londonderry, follows in the footsteps of fellow Northern Irish presenters Zoe Salmon and the late Caron Keating.

Beales, who also stars on CBBC’s The Dog Ate My Homework, has nearly three million YouTube subscribers. His videos feature pranks, challenges, DIY crafts and life hacks.

Blue Peter editor Ellen Evans said: ‘He’s a natural in front of the camera but he’s also very funny, incredibly warm, brilliant with kids and also perhaps a little bit mischievous.’
