Save this Falklands icon from scrapyard
HMs Hermes, Britain’s flagship during the Falklands war, is set to be scrapped in India (Mail). Britain is a maritime nation and it is a ludicrous situation that we do not have an aircraft carrier in our heritage collection. the famous carrier HMs Illustrious ended up going to turkey for scrap. It should have been turned into a tourist attraction in Hull, where it could have generated millions. after serving in the Indian Navy for decades, HMs Hermes should be brought home. would a philanthropist pay the scrap price and towing fees? a certain parcel firm may wish to get involved. we will regret missing this opportunity.
