It was suggested Land Of Hope and Glory should be rewritten to reflect modern life (Letters). the correspondent suggested the title Land Of wimps and Jobsworths. I’ve taken up the challenge: Land of wimps and jobsworths, Land of woke and weak, How shall we extol thee — Condemned before we speak! Wider still and wider Shall our guilt be yet. We can’t begin to love you Till history’s been reset. Land of wimps and yobsworths, Hymned by BBC, Lock our mouths for ever And throw away the key!
