Cake Box sweetens divi
CAKE Box has seen such a large flurry of orders since it reopened its stores that it will return furlough cash and pay investors a £1m one-off dividend.
Sales at the baker, which specialises in making eggfree cakes and has 136 franchise stores, rose 14pc over the last three months compared with the same period of 2019. online sales were up 74pc, helped by the group selling its cakes through Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
It is now making around 40,000 cakes a week. The group said it would hand back £156,000 it claimed from the Government to help pay the wages of furloughed workers. Shares rose 2.9pc, or 5p, to 179p after it announced the 3.2p special dividend.
