Cake Box sweet­ens divi

CAKE Box has seen such a large flurry of or­ders since it re­opened its stores that it will re­turn fur­lough cash and pay in­vestors a £1m one-off div­i­dend.

Sales at the baker, which spe­cialises in mak­ing eggfree cakes and has 136 fran­chise stores, rose 14pc over the last three months com­pared with the same pe­riod of 2019. on­line sales were up 74pc, helped by the group sell­ing its cakes through Just Eat, De­liv­eroo and Uber Eats.

It is now mak­ing around 40,000 cakes a week. The group said it would hand back £156,000 it claimed from the Government to help pay the wages of fur­loughed work­ers. Shares rose 2.9pc, or 5p, to 179p after it an­nounced the 3.2p spe­cial div­i­dend.
