PSG in hunt for £30m Bellerin
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN have opened talks with Arsenal over a £30million move for Spanish right back Hector Bellerin. Arsenal do not wish to lose the 25-year old Spaniard but recognise any substantial fee recouped could be utilised to strengthen the squad elsewhere. The Gunners have already spent £41m this summer on four new arrivals. Juventus and Bayern Munich are also among Bellerin’s admirers but PSG have made the first move.
Bellerin is under contract until 2023 but is open to a new challenge. He joined Arsenal in 2011 from Barcelona’s academy and has gone on to make 205 first-team appearances, winning three FA Cups with the north London club, alongside three Spain caps. PSG have been long-term admirers and persistent in their pursuit.
They have proposed £25m with a further £5m in add-ons. Arsenal value Bellerin higher than that and talks continue. Meanwhile, Arsenal confirmed the signing of Brazilian centre back Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille in a £27m deal. The 22-year-old’s arrival was confirmed in a video Zoom call with compatriots and new team-mates Willian and David Luiz, with Gabriel currently self-isolating in London after making the move from France.
He will wear the No 6 shirt. Manager Mikel Arteta said: ‘He has many qualities which will make us stronger.
‘He has proved with Lille that he is a defender with many outstanding attributes and we are looking forward to watching him grow.’
