‘£100k porn star deal to avert Melania fury’
THE President allegedly signed off on a £100,000 hush money payment to a porn star because it would have cost him more if his wife Melania found out they had an affair.
His ex-lawyer Michael Cohen claims Donald Trump wanted to keep a fling with Stormy Daniels, 41, in 2006 quiet because he did not want to have to pay a far higher sum to the First Lady. But Mr Trump also allegedly thought his fans would not mind as they would think it was ‘cool that I slept with a porn star’.
The payment to Miss Daniels before the 2016 election ended up being Mr Cohen’s undoing and he claims he was the fall guy for a scheme Mr Trump approved. He pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations and other crimes which led to a three-year prison sentence. He was released in May after 15 months and insists Mr Trump is ‘guilty of the same crimes’. In his memoir, pictured below, Mr Cohen claims he was ‘railroaded’ by prosecutors into admitting that he paid Miss Daniels through a shell company and Mr Trump reimbursed him for bogus legal fees.
He writes that Mr Trump approved the payment because he would ‘have to pay’ much more to Melania whom he married in 2005. The President allegedly said: ‘It never pays to settle these things, but many, many friends have advised me to pay.
‘If it comes out, I’m not sure how it would play with my supporters. But I bet they’d think it’s cool that I slept with a porn star.’ Mr Trump’s spokesmen have always denied any affair.
