Is ‘Dido’ Harding the right person for the job?

-

WHY does the Government persist in rewarding failure? Baroness Harding has proved inadequate in her two posts in the health service yet is now tipped to become chief of the NHS. What hold does she have over Westminster? What is needed is a successful person from the private sector brought in with carte blanche to re-organise it from top to bottom.

WILLIAM BENNETT, West Wickham, kent.

DIDO HARDING was in charge at TalkTalk when they were hacked and thousands of customers’ details were accessed. She and TalkTalk did little or nothing to prevent the many scam calls we received, day and night — we had to go with another provider to end the harassment. The Covid testing fiasco is another of her achievements. Heaven help the NHS if she is put in charge!!

ANNE EDWARDS, Lixwm, n Wales.

IF YOU tried to write this it would be seen as a joke. Yet, if the new head of the NHS is confirmed to be Dido Harding, it will be a joke on every person in the UK. Failed at running TalkTalk — I still get scam calls as a result of their database being hacked. Failed to get the Covid testing system sorted, instead, blaming others for the shambles. When will she be rumbled by those who hold her in esteem before the NHS becomes another victim of her management capabilities?

J. R. WINFIELD, Scotton, n. yorks. IT’S wrong to put Dido after Lady as (a) she’s only a baroness so is Lady Harding and (b) it’s not her Christian name, which is Diana.

Simon CampBeLL, glasgow.
