Awards triumph for Mail health writers
AT a time when excellent health coverage is more vital than ever, there’s only one paper you can trust to keep you reliably informed – the Daily Mail.
Now the quality of our coverage has been recognised by the Medical Journalists’ Association at the prestigious annual MJA Awards.
Awarding the Mail more prizes than any other paper, the MJA named the paper’s Eleanor Hayward Newcomer of the Year for her front page story about the HRT shortage. Judges commended her ‘excellent writing’ and said she had made a big impact through her skilful handling and development of the story. They added: ‘It’s to her huge credit the story was picked up so widely and helped to prompt Government action.’
Meanwhile Good Health’s Caroline Scott scooped the Freelance of the Year award for three pieces for the Mail’s industry-leading health section, including a ‘compelling’ piece on organ donation. In a hotly contested category dominated by Good Health writers, the judges said Scott ‘tackles subjects with great sensitivity and compassion through compelling and beautifully written pieces’. Also shortlisted in this category were Daily Mail contributors Jo Waters and Fiona MacRae.
Mail Medical Correspondent Ben Spencer was shortlisted for Mental Health Story of the Year while MacRae was shortlisted in the Science Explained category.
With difficult times ahead, you can trust the Mail’s award-winning health team to continue to bring you all the exclusives, advice and information you’ll need.
