Drink to Beatrice’s wedding with a £40 mug
AS royal weddings go, it was a very private affair – but that hasn’t stopped the official souvenirs going on sale. And anyone wanting to mark the marriage of Princess Beatrice to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will need £40 for a ‘B’ and ‘E’ tankard. Other memorabilia on offer includes that royal wedding staple, the tea towel, priced at £9.95, and a more affordable £2.95 shortbread biscuit tube. There is also a box of £8.95 strawberry truffles. The range is being brought out by the Royal Collection Trust, the charity responsible for the collection of art and antiques that the Queen holds in trust for the nation. Beatrice, 32, and her husband will not benefit financially, but are lending their support.
The designs feature the couple’s initials surrounded by pink roses, peonies, lemon blossom and thistles, secured with a York Rose. They also include the image of a bee – a play on the name by which Beatrice is known to her family and friends.
The Queen’s granddaughter and her 37-year-old property tycoon partner had planned a May wedding in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace followed by a Buckingham Palace reception, but this was scuppered by lockdown.
They had a private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor, on July 17, in front of a handful of guests.
Beatrice’s father, Prince Andrew, who faces questioning by the FBI over his links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, did not appear in the wedding photographs.
Beatrice’s wedding gown will go on display at Windsor Castle from tomorrow. It was loaned by the Queen who first wore it in 1961.
